Over the past few months, Mbolo Association has continued to advance community-led climate action across The Gambia through a series of impactful initiatives. Our women-led renewable energy team has expanded access to clean energy by delivering major solar installations, while our EU-funded O-WASTE Project achieved a national milestone with the commissioning of The Gambia’s first solar-powered compost plant, transforming organic waste collected from twelve markets in the Kanifing Municipality into high-quality compost.

At the same time, our research team is leading the country’s first national electric cooking study, generating evidence that will shape The Gambia’s first Electric E-Cookbook and support the transition to cleaner cooking technologies. Together, these initiatives demonstrate Mbolo Association’s commitment to practical, community-driven solutions that promote renewable energy, sustainable waste management, and climate resilience while improving livelihoods across The Gambia.
