Melvine founded People Empowering People (PEP) Africa, a youth-led organization established
now in over 45 African countries. He has a remarkable 25-year active dedication to community
service and social development. His journey has taken him from Cameroon to across the globe, where
he has spearheaded research initiatives and crafted many innovative youth models (MENSTRUAL,
SAWA, Little-Drop, LEAF, GHoA, FREEDOM, No Palava, RESPECT, KIDSPLAY, dance4life initiative, to
name a few). These initiatives have set a new standard for not only transforming the lives of over
126,000 individuals in Africa but also youth engagement in social development on a global scale.
At the heart of Melvine’s work is his unstoppable commitment to amplifying youth’s voices
and engaging them in the UN flagship initiatives. His dedication to inspiring, educating,
activating, and celebrating their achievement as driving forces behind positive social
change for a brighter future is a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who believe in the
power of youth. he speaks five languages, highlighting his leadership, influence on social
development, and ability to navigate diverse cultural settings and communications.
Melvine’s impressive track record extends to advocacy for youth inclusion and meaningful
engagement in global social and development policy formulation to enhance development
effectiveness. He has provided exemplary leadership that can be felt in numerous networks and
professional work services, including his church; St Faustina Catholic Church, Restless Peace Coalition,
All-Southwest NGOs, Ocean Echos, NOHRA, UN-SAG, Global WASH and Shelter Cluster, Africa54, CHS
Alliance, Climate Justice, Coalition, America Red Cross, Plasticnothanks, YDP-Network, Boys-Scout, etc.
His footprint has left an indelible mark, and Melvine’s contributions extend
beyond borders. He has actively participated in international conferences
alongside NGOCSocD, CSW, ECOSOC, UNAIDS, UNFCCC, IAS, UNEP, etc.
Melvine actively seeks new partnerships and opportunities with development stakeholders to
expand his initiative (PEP Africa’s reach) to all 54 African countries. His vision for this expansion
demonstrates his unwavering commitment to driving positive change and impacting the social

Liana Almony is a civil society representative and human rights advocate with UNANIMA
International. In her role as Deputy Director, Liana advocates for holistic global
policymaking through a human rights-based approach on behalf of women and girls,
migrants, and the environment.
Prior to joining UNANIMA International, Liana most recently worked at the Wilson Center,
a foreign policy think tank in Washington DC, and Cause Communications, a non-profit
organization that provides strategic communications and consulting services for social
justice projects based in Los Angeles. Liana graduated from New York University with a
Master’s degree in International Relations and a concentration in International Law.
During her time at NYU she contributed to research on international human rights
frameworks and feminist foreign policy, acted as President of the International Relations
and Politics Association, and published numerous articles in the Journal of Political Inquiry
as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the publication.
Liana also holds a Bachelor’s degree in PoliticalScience with a concentration in International
Relations, and a double minor in Global Studies and Digital Media Studies, from the University
of California Los Angeles.

Maryann Broxton is the Main
Representative to the United Nations
for the International Movement ATD
Fourth World (March 2023 to present). Her
current role includes representing ATD’s
international priorities at the United Nations
and ensuring the voices and experiential
knowledge of people experiencing poverty
are heard where policy is being discussed
and made.
As the US coordinator for the
Multidimensional Aspects of Poverty (MAP)
participatory research project (2016-2020),
she developed and facilitated trainings
on equitable participation for the Center
on Budget and Policy Priorities, the Center
for Law and Social Policy, and the Aspen
Institute, along with social worker students
at the New School in New York, Harvard,
Columbia, and Fordham University.

Johannes Butscher is the UN Advocacy
Officer with The Inclusivity Project
(TIP)-Global Forum of Communities
Discriminated on Work and Descent (GFoD)
since March 2021 based in the Americas. He
previously worked in Brussels and Scotland,
where he pursued a BA in Economics and
Politics.
In 2017, he moved to Colombia to study a
MA in Peacebuilding and to support local
peace projects and organizations such as
the CAPAZ Institute.

Maria Lourdes Santos, SSpS, is representing VIVAT
International at the United Nations. She is an
Accountant by profession and started off as a junior
auditor at the SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV), a
well-respected accounting firm in the Philippines.
Marides had an extensive working record as
financial manager of the various SSpS educational
and pastoral work institutions.
Her immediate past position was serving as SSpS
Congregational Communications Coordinator
based in Rome, Italy. She was tasked to lead in
positioning communications ministry as a strategic
thrust of the Congregation’s mission. She brings
with her many years ofexperience in pastoral work
among marginalized communities, particularly
Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines. She
functioned as the Executive Secretary of the SouthCentral Luzon Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the
Philippines’ Episcopal Commission on Indigenous
Peoples (CBCP-ECIP) while at the same time serving
as Coordinator of the Holy Spirit Aeta Mission in the
province of Tarlac, Philippines.
She pursued special studies on Strategic Planning
in Development Management at the Asian Institute
of Management in Manila and Minority Voices
Media Training sponsored by the Minority Rights
Group (MRG) International at the University of
Mumbai, India. Currently, as part of the Executive
Team of VIVAT International in New York, her areas
of advocacy at the UN focus on Women and Girls,
Migrants and Refugees, Poverty Eradication, and
Financing for Development.

Henry Ramirez Soler is a Claretian
Missionary and has spent the last
26 years supporting and implementing
peace processes in Colombia.
He has built trust in the community of
all parties involved to build bridges of
communication and facilitate peace
processes between the families of victims,
institutions and armed groups.
Since 2020 he has been part of the
Claretian Team (Fondazione Internazionale
Proclade) at the UN.

Alexia Gaube is the Main UN Representative for Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y), an international
movement of local organisations that develops
innovative solutions for the professional and
social inclusion of excluded Youth living in extreme
poverty. She is also currently developing analytics
and strategies to enhance employee involvement
towards Non-Profits in Wipro Cares.
After achieving Management Degrees from
Toulouse Business School and IESEG School of
Management (France/Peru/Thailand), she worked
as a Strategy Consultant in the water industry and
participated in launching a new sustainability
consulting service. In parallel, she volunteered for
multiple initiatives related to sustainable women
empowerment and local community support. She
joined LP4Y in 2021, working from the slums in India
and the Philippines.
Alongside corporates in Asia, she implemented
Youth professional inclusion initiatives and
connections for best practices sharing. She then
managed a training center that empowered
young people and raised awareness among their
community. Empowered by grassroot expertise,
she advocates for the socioeconomic inclusion of
underrepresented Young people at international
events in North America, Europe and Asia, including
to Nobel prizes and Member States. She recently
hosted a knowledge-sharing forum in New York
and online workshops. Alexia is convinced that
cooperation, inclusive initiatives, ideas sharing,
and stepping out of the box are the catalysts for
innovative solutions to support the achievement of
SDGs and social justice for all.

Albert Barseghyan is representing Sikh Human Rights Group (UN reg.) in the
United Nations (NewYork and Geneva).
Albert holds an advanced master’s degree
in European studies from then College of
Europe. His experienceincludes work for
the University of Luxembourg on citizen
participation, the Inter-Parliamentary Union
on strengthening the role of parliaments in
diplomatic negotiations and the European
Parliament on making EU trade agreements
compatible with the block’s social and
environmental commitments.
At present, he leads Sikh Human Rights
Groups efforts in integrating SDGs as
global and universally applicable frame
of reference for sustainable development
into the work of their affiliate initiatives in
the UK, India, South Africa and Brazil, as well
as advocates for stronger mechanisms of
the review and greater engagement of civil
society in SDG processes.
