In a defining moment for global social development and climate action, the GAMBIA26 Summit will convene more than 1,000 world leaders, policymakers, grassroots organizers, and civil society actors from across the globe at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International (SDK) Conference Center on October 12–16, 2026. At the heart of the convening is the launch of the Earth Hour Award and NGO Common Space. This landmark gathering will advance the restitution of the Second World Social Summit (SWSS) outcomes and catalyze bold, coordinated action toward a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future—one that recognizes that the health of people and the planet are deeply interconnected.
Organized by the NGO Coalition for Social Development (New York) and hosted by the NGO Affairs Agency of the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs of The Gambia, in collaboration with local stakeholders, GAMBIA26 brings together a rare convergence of global leadership and grassroots expertise—bridging the Global North and South to strengthen accountability, elevate lived experience, and accelerate actionable solutions.

ONE STEP AT A TIME
NGOs and CSOs are doing more than ever but can’t meet social and development needs. We can never end hunger and poverty, create decent jobs, and fight SGBV only through the beautiful work of our local charities and humanitarian partners. Like modern democracies, we must end global social and development challenges through compressive social protection and political leadership. Humanitarian service is life’s best work, but not as a way to feed the world or a nation. We don’t protect our national security through humanitarian aid, and we shouldn’t protect our families and children that way.
